Editor's Choice

This 14th August, our Oral History Project film clips were on the Dawn website for three days. Many thanks to Huma Yusuf and Eefa Khalid.

Here is what Dawn had to say about one of our clips:

Tales of the nation

The history of a nation as young as Pakistan is necessarily a living history. After all, the generation that witnessed Partition and the subsequent events that shaped the nation is still with us. Their memories and stories comprise the most vital account of how this country came to be what it is today.

In recognition of this fact, presents oral histories of Pakistan’s first citizens as documented by the Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP), a non-profit educational institution and heritage centre.

In this audio slideshow, Abeeda Abidi describes how Pakistani women from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds came together to defend their new nation by joining the Pakistan National Women's Guard.
